Steve Ward was born and raised in Almo and is a local rancher in the area. He attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah where he earned a BA in Ag Business before returning to his hometown to take over the family cattle ranch with his wife Tonya Ward. Together, we have raised 5 children, and cultivated hundreds of friendships over the years – all under the gorgeous Almo sun.
We have always loved sharing the beauty of the area with others. Starting this campground was a natural (and a bit hectic) extension of that! During your stay with us you can expect to see Steve and his dogs checking in, chatting, and helping out with any needs you may have.
Located in the heart of Southern Idaho, City of Rocks Camp & Climb is perfectly located in the shadow of the Castle Rocks and at the entrance to the City of Rocks. We are within walking distance to the City of Rocks headquarters, and a 2 minute drive to the town of Almo.
As a campground: our spacious 40 acre property has 25 RV hook up sites, 19 RV dry sites and 19 tent spots. The fresh air, clear skies, and beautiful scenery are your setting for adventures you will remember forever. Our property and amenities will serve as your home-away-from home in between it all!
